My kid watches Netflix. Chill. It is what it is. Yes, I’ve read all the warnings against TV for kids under 2. But honestly, a mom’s gotta do what a mom’s gotta do. I’ve still got a life to live and shit to do, and sometimes TV makes that all a lot easier. What’s more, most of the shows he watches have taught me nursery rhymes I didn’t know, and have helped me learn about games I can play with him that help with his development, so there’s that.

Ok now that that is out of the way, when I first started to explore the endless scroll that is Netflix Kids I was overwhelmed and very lost. It took a while to get a handle on it, and sift through all the crap to get to the content that was perfect for his age group and educational in nature. Below is a list that will hopefully help you narrow it down so you can spend less time scrolling and more time singing along.

Little Baby Bum & Learning Songs by Little Baby Bum – oddly animated nursery rhymes that will have your infant in a trance, and teach you the parent all you need to know about nursery rhymes.

The Wiggles – their reputation precedes them for a reason. The first time I heard my son laugh was because of The Wiggles. Worth it.

Word Party – annoying little animal babies in diapers that need help learning new words.

Beat Bugs – when you’re tired of all the nursery rhymes, this animated show uses strictly Beatles music. You’re welcome.

Not on Netflix but should be: Yo Gabba Gabba – live action puppet show hosted by DJ Lance Rock and often featuring famous friends. As with Beat Bugs, the music in this one is much more enjoyable for adults. Look for this on Demand. I know it’s available on Bell but not to sure about Rogers.

Honerable Mention goes to Disney’s Coco. No its not educational, but the colours and music hold Lucas’ attention longer than any of the shows above.

Is there something your little one is watching that isn’t on the list? I’d love to hear about it. Let me know in the comments below. Happy Netflixing!
